In an effort to serve the growing ridership of the city, Charlotte Transit Department decided to locate an information office in the heart of the uptown area and to commission Clary Architects, Inc. to design it. The facility provides route information, special fare tickets and change to the many patrons utilizing the transit system. The facility also serves as a collection point for payment of municipal utility services such as water bills, traffic fines and City/County taxes.

The center occupies a building approximately ninety years old and provides a clean, fresh image of the Transit System in the central core of the city. The use of bright colors, super graphics and accent lighting creates an inviting and contemporary atmosphere for the patrons and employees of the facility.
