INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS

This project was a very large distribution center built under a design-build relationship with Choate Construction Company for a west coast manufacturer of residential bathroom and kitchen cabinets and vanities. Since it serves as the east coast distribution center, appropriate offices were constructed for the executives and managerial staff.

It was built in a new industrial park in Lincolnton, North Carolina. The exterior skin was of tilt-up concrete construction with steel framing for the superstructure. The entire plant was air-conditioned for the benefit of the workers and a total of thirty-four truck slips and loading docks was provided for the shipping and receiving of finished products.

The project was completed approximately two months ahead of schedule. Our firm provided the architectural preliminary design and final construction documents within a total of five weeks from the time we were instructed to proceed.

Features of the project include:
· 7.35 acres of storage and office space under one roof
· 35' clear storage space under any structural, mechanical or sprinkler construction
· 32 truck slips with truck loading docks and 2 ramped truck drive-in unloading points
· parking for 150 automobiles for office and warehouse personnel
· room on-site for expansion of an additional 100,000 square feet of storage space

The general contractor was Choate Construction Company. The size of the project was 320,000 square feet. The construction cost was $6,017,650.
