INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS

This project was the initial project for Freightliner Corporation by Clary Architects, Inc. and it served as a test project for Clary Architects, Inc. before being favored by Freightliner Corporation with larger and more complex work scheduled for other plants located elsewhere in the state over the next ten years.

This vehicle assembly building was purchased by Freightliner from the defunct Mann Bus Company located in Cleveland, North Carolina. Our work consisted of refurnishing and renovating it to serve as a new truck assembly plant for Freightliner. Our services consisted of performing a complete inventory of the existing office furnishings and equipment that was purchased with the building, interior design services to augment existing furniture, creation and layout of new offices for the incoming management and extensive renovation to the assembly lines and services pits of the existing building. The mechanical system was completely overhauled and augmented to provide air conditioning to the original non-air conditioned assembly line and interior finished products storage area.

Limited site work provided supplemental parking areas for finished trucks awaiting delivery to customers and improved access to and from the property.

Construction cost: $750,000
