As the international airport of Charlotte, NC grow, the parking of automotive vehicles must be accommodated. This new facility was built as an adjunct to the new recently completed parking deck to park approximately 1,000 automobiles.
The exterior material is acrylic stucco which provides the sculptured appearance and coordinates well with the precast concrete towers of the adjacent parking deck. The stepped recesses in the fascia reflect the horizontal banking of the adjacent deck and add interest by creating the additional depth and dimension. The clear span over all the lanes prevents a heaviness that could have resulted if columns had been used repeatedly at each or every other toll booth. Each booth is air conditioned and soundproofed to afford as much comfort as possible and practical to the toll takers.
Final construction cost, $388,000.
